A stranger, who asked to see Jett, was admitted by Jailer Boone. Jett did not recognize the man, who talk- ed to him quite familiarly. After a while the stranger drew from his pocket a bot- tle of whisky and offered it to Jett. Jall- er Boone took the bottle from Jett's hand as he was about to drink. Jett protested, saying he wanted the whisky, but Boone refused to let him have it, and kept the bottle. It has been found that the whisky contained poison and it will be sent to the State College for analysis. LEXINGTON, Ky., May 19.—Curtis Jett, charged with the murder of J. B. Mar- cum, was brought into the Circuit Court to-day at Winchester on a motion to dis- miss the habeas corpus proceedings. The county attorney was not present but Jail- er Boone, against whom the relief meas- ure was directed, conducted his own case. The court decided to hold Jett and made a statement that to return him to Jack- son, Ky., would be instantly to turn him loose. He will await the action of the Breathitt County Grand Jury. . ————— To Lake Tahoe.
