OAKLAND, Jan. 14.—In a row over a newspaper to-night at their home, 1719 At- lantic_street, John E. Holleran hurled a lighted lamp at the head of his brother, Thomas J. Holleran, while he was in full flight, inflicting a scalp wound that was dressed at the Receiving Hospital. Fortunately for the Holleran famfly the lamp did not explode, but went out just as soon as it struck the target. The row started with a demand from John upon Thomas for the paper. Thomas followed thick and fast. Finally Thomas left the kitchen for safety. ThenJohn picked up the lamp that Thomas had been reading by and flung it.
