NEW YORK, Oct. 29.—The funeral of the late Elizabeth Cady Stanton was held to-day from her late residence in this city. Besides the family there were pres- | ent only a few close friends who had keen invited, including Susan B. Anthony, the life-long friend and coworker of the dead woman; Lillian Devereaux - Blake and Mrs. Wilbur. Addresses were given by thRev. Martin D, Colroy of the South Place Chapel, London, and by Mrs. An- toinette Brown Blackwell of Rlizabeth, N. J. The interment was at Woodlawn' Cemetery, where the ceremony included an address by Mrs, Hannaford. In Memoriam, EHzabeth Cady Stanton has ceased from her labors. Full of years and honors, she has bidden adieu to earth, and journeyed to the unknown, leaving a record without a blémish, and an example that will be a stimulus to the daughters of this and of future generations. With all the charms of femininity she combined a masculine strength. She could perceive intuitiveiy and she could reason inductively. She could persuade and she could command. In speech and in Ing she could turn | beautiful periods that adorned theughts of power, carrying conviction to those ‘who would have preferred not to belleve. She ever stood for truth, honor ang right- eousness; for freedom and equal rights for all. A faithful wife, a loving mother and a true friend, she carried with her a sun- light that gladdened the hearts of those with whom she came in contact. From Maine to California, from Texas to § Alaska, there are women and men with- out number whose hearts will beat heav- ily and whose eyes will be dimmed with tears as they read of the passing away of Elizabeth Cady Stanton.
