BERKELEY, Oct. 25.—The agricultural department of the University of Califor- nia issued to-day its report of the work| of the department done during the year’s 1898-1%01. The volunme, containing 409 pages, is revlete with valuable data con- cerning the experiments along various agricultural lines conducted by the de- partment at Berkeley and the six sub-sta- tions throughout the State. FAMOUS MARK TWAIN CABIN TUMBLES DOWN Tuolumne County Landmark Suec- cumbs to the Ravages of Time. JAMESTOWN, Oct. 28.—The so-called Mark Twain cabin is no more. This old Tuolumne landmark, built on Jackass Hill, Tuttletown, in the early days by | Tom Carrington, succumbed to the vio- lerce of the late storm and tumbled down. The oldest building on the hill. it was pointed out to visitors as the cabin in which Mark Twain lived one winter, and pictures of it have served a similar purpose in Eastern publications containing illustrated articles concerning the famous humorist, although authorities Aiffer as to whether Twain ever occupied it as a place of abode. e Remains of Mrs. Branch Interred. The remains of Mrs. Isabella Branch, wife of George W. Branch of the United States naval office, were buried Tuesday afternoon in Cypress Lawn Cemetery.
