Merger of Portland Railways. PORTLAND, Aug. 25.—Negotiations are pending between the Portland Railway Company and the City and Suburban Railway Compgny with a view of pur- chasing the latter by the former, and the consolidation of both companies under one head. The purchase of the interests of the City and Suburban Railway in Portland will involve the expediture of between $2,000,000 and $3,000,000. The stock- holders of the Portland Railway Company are mostly Eastern capitalists, headed by D. O. Mills of New York, while the own- ers of the City and Suburban are Port- land capitalists. The proposed consolida- tion, if effected, will unite all the street railways of Portland under one system. . Street Car Jumps the Track. PORTLAND, Ore., Aug. 2%.—Peter C.
