Ho Yow and Local Merchants Back Ccmpany With One Million Dollars. The Chinese - American Commercial Company was Incorporated yesterday, with a capital stock of §1,000,000. The purpose of the company Is to develop business and trade between China and this country, and to do so it will establish commercial museums for the exhibition of American manufactures 4nd preducts all over China and museums in America for Chinese products. The company will deal directly with the con- sumer on behalf of the manufacturer, thereby dispensing with all unnecessary brokers and other agents and obviating the necessity of having each individual manufacturer and producer maintain, at €normous expense, individual agents in a | sirange land. The First Battalion of the Twenty-fifth | Infantry let the Presidio yesterday | morning for its new station at Fort Nio- | brara, Nebraska. Company B, Sixteenth | Infantry, is ordered to Fort Slocum, New York, and Companies G, H and M of the same regiment to Fort McPherson, Geor- gia. A detachment of about fifty men from the hospital corps school of instruc- tion at Fort McDowell has been ordered to leave for Manila on the transport Sumner, which is scheduled to sail next Saturday. Still Trying to Escape. A petition was filed at the Supreme Court yesterday to compel Judge Dunne of the Superior Court to settle the biil of exceptions in the case of George Walker, whe was convicted of embezzlement of funds from the American Tract Soclety. The defendant was convicted about four years ago and has been fighting the case ever since. He secured one new trial, but was convicted again and given another | sentence, e — Julius Walling on Trial. The trial of Jullus Walling on the charge of grand larceny was commenced before a jury in Judge Cook’s court yes- terday. Several witnesses were examined | and the case was continued till this morn- | ing. Walling is accused of stealing two | valuable dlamonds belonging to Mrs. Ar- thur Dodge, 719 Taylor street, while he was rooming there on July 23 last year. —_——— Denies Motion for New Trial. Judge Hunt yesterday denied the motion of the defendants for a new trial in the suit of H. Greenberg against the Western Turf Association.
