Contradictcry Statements Are Made by Him and His Victim. ——— James Lawless, an aged watchman at the Occidental and Oriental Warehouse, near the Pacific Mail dock, was, arrested yesterday morning by Policeman J. J. Cameron and bocked at the City Prison on a charge of assault to murder. After hearing his statement yesterday morning, Judge Cabaniss released him on his own recognizance. He was taken to the harbor hospital and later to the Central Emergency Hospital. The bullet entered Williams’ right breast, passed through his body and was ex- tracted from his back. Every time you eat, this hot weather, you get a sour stomach full of hot gases and acids, and you swell up until your heart hardly has room to beat. If you were not so obstin~ ate, you'd take my advice and keep your insides cool by taking a CASCARET Candy Cathartic every night before going to bed. They work while you sleep and keep you regular in the hottest weather. RAILWAY TRAVEL. Girand Excursion! WEDNESDAY, August 20.
