S 3 Chicago Grain Market. % CHICAGO, July 10.—There was a decline in wheat at the cpening due to the more lnvnf- able weather, but the selling was not heavy and was principally on local account. Small movements and rumors of bad crop reports, together with evening up for the Government report, gave steadiness to the market. Offer- ings, which were rather light early In the sesvion, became more free toward the latter part of the day, and prices weakened. Sep- tember opened %c lower at 73%@73%c, 8d- vanced to 74c on restricted offerings, reacted toward the close, which was %c lower, at 8% @73%c. Comparatively little trading was done in corn and the feeling on the whole, Was firm. July closed 4c lower at 82c; ievkember closed with a Jcss of c 61@61%c. WHEAT—The English markets were firmer, Witk a better inquiry. Chicago was several fcoctions lower, chiefly in sympathy with clear weather around the lakes, though this had been largely discounted on the preceding day. Damage reports from Illinols, Iowa and Nebraska came in more freely. Business was quiet, as everybody was waiting for the Government report. The report was issued in the afternoon and gave the condition of winter wheat at 77, against 88.3 on the same date in 1901; spring Wheat, 92.4, against 95.6. On the 10th of June, 1902, the condition of winter ‘wheat was 76.1 and of spring wheat 95.4. Briefly, the condi- tion of winter wheat has improved slightly during the past month, while spring wheat has fallen off 3 points. This market showed no change, either on or oft call.
