GRAND JURY DISMISSES CASE AGAINST HANSTED Alleged Assailant of Thomas Gar- rett Appears Before That Body and Tells His Story. The.Grand Jury yesterday completed its investigations into the assault upon Thom- as Garrett, and by a decisive vote dis- missed the case against Fred Hansted, alias “Young Dutchy.” Among the wit- nesses examined was Hansted, the alleged perpetrator of the assault. The latter was sworn by Assistant District Attor- ney Ash and instructed as to his rights. Hansted simply told the members of the Grand Jury that he had saved Kditor Garrett from being kicked to death, and was arrested and abused for his trouble. He said he would be unable to answer any questions put to him by the Grand Jury, as he was advised by his attorney, ‘Archie Campbell, not to do so. He fur- ther stated he was answering a charge of felony in the Police Court. e i OCEAN STEAMERS.
