It is not for a moment thought by the members of his family or friends that Baldwin took his own life, it being their belief that death was accidental. The relations between young Baldwin and his wife have been of a cordial nature and he was even contemplating a trip to Manila, there to join his father, Barry Baldwin Sr., who is in the Philippines as the representative of the firm of Ma- condray & Co. In the evening the deceased remained with his wife, Mrs. Marie V. Baldwin, until 10 o'clock; at which hour Mrs. Bald- Wwin retired. Baldwin remained in the par- lor and nothing was heard of him again by his wife, who slept soundly. On rising in the morning Mrs. Adrian, one of the household, noticed an odor of escaping gas and hastened to Mrs. Bald- win's room, thinking it came from there. Finding that sugh was not the case, she went to the parl®r and there found young Baldwin, fully-fressed, in_a reclining po- sition on a lounge in.a dying condition. A gas jet was open and the room was full of the deadly fumes, notwithstanding that the window was slightly open. M*s Baldwin was called, and as it was i possible to arouse him Drs. William Him- melsbach and H. L. C. Mendel were sent for and a telephone message called un tt;:e family physician, Dr. Burnell. Upon e e arrival of the medical men they did | | o — BARRY BALDWIN JR.
