NEW YORK, Aug. 5.—The London metal markets were all closed to-day in observance of & bank holiday. This fact caused general dullness to prevail throughout the day in local circles. Tin eused off about 10 points on bid prices under a sheer lack of support, closing very dull at §27 45@27 75. The rest of the list was without change and at largely nominal prices in the absence of business. Lead dull at $4 373%. Spelter dull at $3 90@3 95. Copper nominal; Lake Superior at $16 50@17, and cast- ing and electrolytic at §16 373,@16 621. Dealers are helping the advance along, for it will enable them to work off their Eastern and store goods. At the same time Cheese rules firm at higher prices. Butter is also quoted firm, though there is rather more on the market. Fine creameries, however, bring the top quotations without diffl- culty. Receipts were 110,000 pounds of Butter, 524 cases of ERRS, 366 cases. Citrus fruits rule very firm under light sup- plles, as will be seen by the quotations. Melons are in larger supply and Nutmegs are drugging the market. Prices are lower all around. Cantaloupes are also in liberal supply. Peaches are quoted weaker for clings in bulk, the other descriptions remaining about as be- fore. Bartlett Pears in bulk are also slightly lower.
