S John Leary, a laborer, employed by the Ban Francisco Gas and Electrio Light Company, miraculously escaped being ¢ j crushed to death by a south-bound Mis- sion-street electric car at Third and Mar- ket streets yesterday afternoon soon after 10'clock. Although the man escaped with his life, he s severely injured. Leary, with a n of other men, was employed to.dig e ditch across Mar- ket street, close to the car line. The ex- cavation was so close to the track that the men had to leave their work every time a car passed.
