NEW YORK, Nov. 15.—Strength was renewed in the stock market to-day, but there was nothing like & resumption of the speculative enthusiasm of last week. There were stocks that moved strongly there ‘were fewer that closed the day lower than they left off last night, but there was nevertheless a continuance of the frreguiar tendency in the market. The points of stiengtn, though more numerous, were still somewnai isolated or deserted and the market Aid not at any time show permeating and vigorous strength. The gains seemed to be due either to the operations of speculative pools working for an mdvance in special stocks or to causes | affecting the individual stocks. General Elec. tric duplicated its gain of yesterday with an. other 6-point rise, carrying it to 160% on the iarge earnings reported. Yesterday's strength, in the coalers became Jersey Central, which was up at one time 4 points on reports of coming increase in divy- dends. Liverpool fully reflected the decline here yesterday and shorts, taking advantage of the liquidation which was renewed In a moderate way on this fact, cov- ered to insure profits. Thus December, which had opened lac lower at 7T24c to 72%4c, rallied to 72%c. This brought out more wheat, with the result that December dropped to 7T1%c, the low price for the day. Here the market gave evidence of having been sold to the last specu lative bushel and prices steadied with a jerk. The long wheat which shorts had grabbed at the start was less in e An_ Argentine | cable reported forty per cent damage to the crop of that country, and while this was de- nied by others later, it had its effect among #horts.
