Mr. Scott had been a resident of San Francisco for miany years and at one time occupled a prominent position tn Wells, Fargo & Co.’s Bank. Ha left that insti- tution to enter the Insurance brokerage business and successfully managed the same until his death. His relatives were surprised at his sudden taking off, though Mr. Scott had been in poor health for the lagt few months. Mr. Scott was the son of the late Rev. W. A. Scott and a brother-in-law of A. Foster, president of the Callfornia Northwestern Railway. He was a native of New Ovleans and 57 years of age. He bad been a widower for a number of years, but two sons and a daughter sur- vive hims Ebenezer Scott, secretary and treasurer of the Chamber of Commerce of this city, Is a brother of deceased.
