She proved such a success and the regatta committee was so pleased that it presented Captain Van Oterendorp with a silver fruit basket and Chief Officer Rennie with a gold ring as memento of the occasion. ihe scene was photographed and the pictures have arrived here as Christmas cards with the inscription “A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year” in gold lettering on them.
