PATTON has just returned from several years of active and arduous missionary work among the savages of the New Hebrides Islands. Though he takes an im- mense pleasure in the large number of converts he made to Christianity, his greatest pride is that he was aple to induce a very large number of ‘cannibals to forsake the practice of eating their captured ene- mies.
