10 THE SAN FRANCISCO CALL, FRIDAY, DECEMBER 3, 1897 OUTSIDERS WON i PROFOSION Miss Lynah and Tripping Upset Form Players at Ingleside. The Former at Odds of 20to 1 Easily Defeated the Fa- vorite Montgomery, Libertine Again in Hard Luck—Novia Scored Easily - 0 Big Field. It appears to be no trouble to turn favor- these daysat the track. The road traversed by the talent at Ingleside vesterday was fully as rocky as the muchly ites down written highway to Dubtin. These Eastern trainers have certainly got speculators guessing. One will send a horse out fit to go the Derby route, and anotber will starta rare good one with brackets around its Turf Guide apparently unable to raise a gallop. A rare exception to this latter havit is W. B. Jennings. This well-known Eastern owner and trainer started Ping, Miss Lynah and imp. Tripping in differ- ent events yesterday and 1wo out of the their numbers flashed on top. Miss Lynah had the remunerative odds of 2010 1 opposite her name about post time, and Tripping opened up 1n the ring at 6to rows of three had 8. Ping ran unplaced. Trance were al- lowed to make therunning 1o the stretch, where Jones on the favorite and Clawson astride iwmp. Tripping began moving up. Both lads rode a perfectly timed race, but at the end it locked as though Clawson had slignily the best of the argument and | got Tripping home a long nose in iront. H. Shields rode the 8 to5favorite, Liber- tine, in the final five-furiong scramble, and had his usual bard luck yarn to re- late. A slight bumping match with Prince Blazes knocked him about at the siart and he never got near the front. Dr. Sharp with 6 to 1 about him in the ring overtook the faint-hearted Bellicoso near- ing the wire and won cleverly. Dunboy finished in the show. nuer. —_—— TURF in the ring vesterday. the day’s game. Long was ruled oft in connection with the | ruuning of the horse Ricardo some three years ago. Williams came under the ban for his connection with the Little Pete frauds. The old ruling was reeflirmed. Mat Storn came dangerously near cutting & walermelon in the first race with Defiamt. Backed down from 30 to 12 the colt was away irom the post poorly aud then ran & bang-up second. Mat is meeting with great success of late. Ping, a good-looking Maxim colt from the Hagein ranch, was touted as a good thing in | the first race and was held at a short price in | the betting. He is a good looker and shouid do better next time out. In the East it is sald Miss Lynah found five furiongs too far. I'seemsas though Cnlifor- nia atmosphere must have already worked wonders with her staying qualities. Imp. Missioner was played for a big bunch yesterday, but could not land.
