The County Committee then adjourned and the delegates organ- iz>d as a convention. T. D. Riordan was elected chairman, P. J. Walsh and W. H. Rickards were elected secretary and assistant respective- ly. Henry Lewis was chosen sergeant-at- arms, Tue next business in order being the nomination of freeholders, Mr. Man- waring moved that the secretary read the report of the County Committee rec- ommending the names. The names of the fifteen were read. J. Alva Watt remarked: *I da not op- pose the non-partisan selection, but I think some expianation should be made to indi- cate why we nominate Populists and Democrats."” The chairman, Mr. Riordan, explained that at the first meeting of the County Committee it was re-olved {0 select a non- partisan board.
