Larly cables were 14d higher: French murkets stronger. Prices held steady around opening quotations for the first hour of the session. 4 stronger feeling came into the market on reports of rust damage (0 wheat in Hungary and Austria. Shorts began covering: this advancea July to 7134c. Selilog again became creater than buyers cared to take, resuiting in a declive to 7114c. Selling by longs to take profits near the ciose weakened prices fractiopaly. 71%cC Was bid when the gong sounded. The warket has been hammered hard by shorts during the past few days. This has resulted in an overso.d condition. The greater part of buying to- day was by shoris. There was very little outside interest shown. The bear clique who have been 50 prominent in the market of late were not try- ing to prevent prices from advancing. The mar- ket is becoming very much professional. St. Louis wired later in the day that the Hessian fly was dolng more damage in Missouri than at first thovght.~ This is the same old fly speculators use every year when they run short of news. The sections_ whence these Teports orleinate are not buying wheat. This is the best evidence that no serious damage is being done. 1t serves (o ad- vance an oversold market, Other than this no im- portance should be attached to the fly problem.
