1 2 THE SAN FRANCISCO CALL, THUUSDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 1897. -_— e WALDTEUFEL'S FEES. Queer Complication Brought About by the Acts of the Dead Mer- chant’s Son. Bome days ago a petition was filed with the Board of Supervisors by W. B. Brad- bury, asking that he might be heard ouJ the subjeot of jury ees. The petition was referred to the Committes on Judiciary. Since the filing of the paper it has ap- peared that Mr. Bradbury wished to speak concerning certain jury fees which became | due to the late Achille Waldteufel, the | music dealer, and which have since been assigned to Mr. Bradbury by J. A. Wald- teufel, a son of Achille Waldteufel, in his capacity of administrator. The warrant | for these jury fees was signed by Auditor | Broderick, but it has never been paid be- | cause delinquent taxes caused it to be beld out. But for the delinquent taxes the really interesting fact in_connection with the case might not have come out, as there was nothing irregular on the face of the papers. But City and County Attorney | Creswell has discovered that tbere is a | discrepancy in dates which needs explana- tion. The jury warrant for Achille Wald- teufel’s fees was drawn November 13, 1896, the amount being $52. November 19, 1896, | J. A. Walateufel made oatn before F. D. Lawler that he was the duly qualified and | acting administrator of the estate of | Achille Waldteufel. But the record in this respect shows that the administrator was not appointed until January 7, 189, This bas set the City and County Attorney 1o thinking. He has caused a statement | of the matter to be laid before the Judi-| v Committee of the Supervisors. A | SITUATIONS WANTED—Continued. ONGLISH WIDOW.
