The six local branches of the Catholic Knights of America are making prepara- tions to fittingly entertain the eighth bi- that order, to-morrow and Wednesday. The order, which is frater- nalin character, is one of hign standing among Catholic organizations ng of Pope Leo XIII, and it numbers among its members scme of the most prominent of the clerzy ennial State Convention of which meets in this City has received the bless in this countr; ‘The organization in this State isin a flourishing condition, and especially of Jate it has been growing at an encourag- ing pace. There were a large number of people at the ocean beach yesterday until the fog commenced to come in, and there was a rush for the cars. In the afternoon tne actions of three young men in a crowd of promenaders attracted the attention of a citizen, who watched them and saw one of them steal a purse from a lady’s pocket. the alarm, when the thief returned the property to the lady, and the trio sep- arated. He followed the thief and had him arrested by Officers Coleman and Barry. The lady. who disappeared in the s afterward ascertained, was Mrs. P. L. Archibald of 311 Golden Gate avenue.
