The deciine was equal to 14@54 per cent, the latter in sugar. tubsequently under the nfuence of easy money the news 0f furiher engagements of gol . in London for shipment to this side, specu- lation sssumed a stronger ione and prices ad- vanced ail along the line. Manhattan rose rapidly from 883 to 9115 on a revival of the rumors about a deal pending with the Metropolitan Trac- ti00, and tobacco made an equally sharp advance on covering of short coutracts. This sto.k sold up from 6534 to 68%. The general list improved 10 3 per cent, and the rise was weil maintained untis just at thie close, when sugar suddenly fell #row 10734 to 107 under heavy sules. Louisviilz and Nashville was strengthened by the favorable character of the annual showing made yesterday and on a belief that the Thomas- Rya -Seaboard air L.ne would put a speedy end to the rate troubies in the South.
