Coffin dealers while they take the matter seriously enough to refrain from ridiculing it, un- dertake to point out its impracticability. The chief objection urged ugainst coffins made of glass is that they would retain for an indefinite Eeriod the decomposed ele- ments of the body. This is an objection which applies as 11 to metallic coffins, the use of which is requir-d by law in many cases of contagious diseases. The chief advantages of coffins made of glass, according to 8 prominent glass job- ber on Wahash avenue, is their cheapness. A good coftin could be made of glass, he said, at one-fourth the cost of the low- grade wood coffins. The attempt madeby the Ohio concern about fifteen vears ago to manufacture glass coffins failed mainly because of the relatively higher cost of glassmaking as compared with the cost to-day. Glass is now put to a large variety of uses. Among other tiings, it is made g0 as to imitate wood very closely, so that burial caskets constructed in this way could be made to have the general appear- ance of caskets made of very costly woods. —Chicago Inter Ocean. —— Dumnbbells used twice or thrice a day is the best remedy for round shoulders. Such exercise is well calculated to restore a naturalily tall figure, bent by following a stooping occupation, to its original erect- ness. ——————— Col-stCblebs. — 113 PacRoll Més, — Cal ElecL 88 — 12212 D0 2d is Bs.... & CniraC W55 96 97151 & O Ry 65.105 120 Dput-siex-cp 77 €6 [P&th Ry 65 107 Fdsn L&POs — 12214Pwi-st KR8 — 116 FaCH1 0681045 — |Reno, WL&EL ~ 105 Geary-siitss. 1028, — ISacto P& L. — 10z LosAug L Ba. 103 'SI&N PR 5310134101 Do {inteed 65 108 |SPREArizés — ™ 9y Mkt-siChle6s128 — |SPRKal6s. 10844111 DoiyUonss. 105 [SPRRCa bs. e NevOCNcHT7s 45 105 |SCHrRCalBs. £ 9151001, | N PCKRB&101 108 [SVWute 65119 " 1Lang | N Ry Cal 68102 105 |SVW 959, B91y | N Ry Calbs. — 100 'StkinGéls 100 Onk Gas 53..101 10414 Suns T&TEs 100 — Do2d is 8s.. — 106 |Su.ier-stk5s10/1p — Omuibus ©8.119 12014 VisallaWC6s — " 92 WATER STOCKS.
