14 PIKE IS ‘0RROWFUL. The Youthful Forger Will Not Be Prose- cuted by His Victims. Albert Pike, the bellboy who disappeared from the Bella Vista Hotel on April 29 after forging a check for $30 and appropri- ating Frank Brooks'. dressing-case, has been apprebended near Ventura. The lad, who was quite popular at the hotel, re- grets his doings, and through the kindness of the people e mulcted no prosecution will follow. The dressing-case and money L:ave been returned. Nothing is said about the position of the public law_officers in this matter. The custom of dropping & rosecution at the request of friends has gecome s0 common thatit has ceased to cause comment.
