Additional weekly reports from the Comstock are as follows: OPHIE—1000 level —~The south drift from the station has been advanced 24 ieet; total length, 449 feet; and has made connection with the drift run vorth from the Con. Virginia snaft station on this level. Have continued jointly with the Mexican Com- pany the work of making repairs in the main shaft near the sill floor of this level. Central tannel — 250 level—Work ou this level was suspenaed on the first day of this month, Tunnel level—On the north side of the crosscut running west from the drift run northwesterly from the Mexican shaft—56 feet above the siil floor of this 1 mouth of the crosscut—we have upraised 20 feet, following up some ore streaks found there, and we have extracted therefrom 6 tonsOf ore assaying about $25 per ton. HALE & NORCROSS—975 level. No. 1 upraise— The ore steak on_the eighth floor is becoming too poor a quality to extract: we lave stopped work on this fioor. No. 2 upraise—On the seventh, eighth and ninth floors working south the grade of the ore streak on these floors has depreciated very considerably dur- ing the past few days and will not now pay to save. On the ninth floor vorking morth the ore streak is marrow, but of good quality. On the tenth floor working south the ore streak is about the same &S at date of last report. No. 3 upraise—Have been working on the sev- enth floor. We have made connestion on this floor with the stopes from No. 1 upraise. The ore streak continues in the roof and north end of raise, but of lower grade than heretofore. No. 4 upraise—Have been working north and south on second floor. The ore streak is of good quality. Have done the necessary retimbering and repairing during the weel. Extracted during the week from our openings 40_cars of ore, assa ing per mine car sample, gold, $21 silver, 26.1 ounces, per ton. OCCIDENTAL—Edwards shaft—The shaft started a point on the surface of the Edwards location near the south line is now down 40 feet, having been sunk 14 feet during the week: formation, Lard prophyry. 650 level—The main_northwest crosscut started ata point 210 feet north of the winze station has been extended 11 feet through hard porphyry; total length, 405 fe 750 level—The west crosscut started In the north drift at a point 310 feet north of the main winze hias been extended 17 feet; total length, 219 feet, and continues in hard porphyry. During the week we have set up ana now have in successful operation & complete drillig plant, consisting of a Best crode-oil engine und a Rix air compressor, which furnishes power to runa Phee- nix drill. The plant is located in the mine near No. 1 upraise on :50 level and the air is conveyed inpipes to the face of the west crosscut on 750 level, where the drill is set up. By the aid of this drill the work will be greatly facllitated and we will reach the point beneath the ore body discov- ered on the 650 level much soomer than by hand drilling. OVERMAN—Extra-ted 86 tons and 1700 pounds of ore from the north drift on the 900 level. The assay value of the ore per car samples was $50 43 per ton. On the 1100 level of the Caledonia have extended southwest drift 55 feet through porphyry, seams of clay and quartz. The quartzis of low value. Have cut water in this drift and have tim- bered the same. Total length of drift past east crosscut, 148 feet. BRUNSWICH EXPLORATION COMPANY—Shaft 1—Sinking was resumed on the 28th ult., and the shaft has since been sunk 12 feet on the incline through porphyry, clay and quarcz; total depth 312 feet. 200 level—From the end of the south drift from east crosscut 1 have staried west crosscut 4 and advanced it 18 feet through porphyry and quartz. Shatt 2, 150 level—The south drift from east crosscut 1, 45 feet from the station, has been extended 21 feet through porphyry and’ stringers of quartz; total length 27 feet. Goull & Curry Company’s tunnel—The main north drift has been extended 30 feet through porphyry, clay and quartz; total length 580 feet.
