Re- ceipts at Chicago were 116 cars and 49,599 bushels were inspected from store. Northwestern receipts were 491 cars, against 436 last Thursday and 158 avear ago. Export clearances amounted to 199, 277 bushels. Closing Continental cables were all higher. prices here becoming stronger simultane- ously wth their posting and afterward advancing rapidiy on reported sales for shipment of 400,000 bushels cash wheat at Minneapolis, New York also reported 10 loads taken for export. It is reported that some good indications of ore have been encountered in the tunnel o® the sur- faceof the Utah Consolidated mine, which was started a few weeks ago. At the annual meeting ‘Wednesday the secretary’s financial statement showed a credit of $2107 47. Superintendent Lyman is in favor of reopening the old surface tunnel, starting at a point s little north of the main hoisting-works building and running west- erly therefeom toward the prominent surface crop- pings which are visible all along the mountain-top from the Sierra Nevada Company's claim pust the northern limit of the Utah Company’s claim. He is advised that this west tunnei was advanced west wellof the Comstock lode. tnat this west tunnel pascel through narrow quartz streaks that gave low assay value, and that very little prospect work has been done through this surface tumnel.
