Although the Comstocks were no lower yester- day there was a disposition to let the market alone, as for several days & rumor has bean curreént that Con. It s reporied that the matier may be decided at & meeting of the directors of the com- pany to-morrow eanwhile cautious dealers are keeping their hands off the market. However, should an assessment e levied it has already been discounted by Tuesday’s decline in the stock from | $2 40 to $2 10, and the longs are using this theory against any further declines. Still, the market was wealk at the close yesterday. ¢ NOTES. The hofsting works at the Best & Belcher end of the Branswick lode were started up Tuesday and crosscutiing in that locality will be begun about December 10. The assessment on Exchequer s delinquent in the bourds to-day. Bullion valued at $2800 has been' received from the Mayflower gravel mine. Advices from the Gray Eagle state that the formation in the face of the tunnel is the same as last reported, except that they are getting larger boulders and a_general heavier wash. They had one small polut of bedrock from the north run, but runs in the tace on south side; the gravel in the face on south side shows 2 feet. On the north side they have cemented sand and large cemented boulders. Have run to the mill 25 carioads of bot- tom gravel, which shows a prospect by pan of about $5 0 the car, which 1s an improvement over last weelk of about $2 per car, and shows that they are nearing the level of the rich strata they had to leave behind on account of the water, and' & more favorable improvement is looked for.
