The market was somewhat steadier yesterday. There was no further decline on the regular calls, 204, in fact, there was slight teudency the other way. Business continued dull. The only excep- tion was Occldental, which advanced to 30c, the stock being wanted for the forthcoming annual meeting on the 18th. NoOTES. The payrolls of the Comstock mining and mill- ing companies for the month of October amounted 10 377,914 40, or $10,000 more than for the previ- ous month, Bullion valued at $4400 has been received from the Muy Flower gravel mine. In the Savage, onthe 950 level, west crosscut 1. started from the north lateral driit, is advanced 187 feet: face is in heavy clay. In the east cross- cut from the face of the morth drift fourth floor they are stoping upward, following a stratum of falr grade“ore. On the eighth floor of the north upraise the nortn drift is advanced 53 feet; face in low-grade quartz. During the week they have hoisted 90 cars of ore; car samples average $32 14 perton. Shipped to the Nevada mill 190 tons and milled 160 tons; battery samples average $25 82 per ton. The official letter from the Confidence says: West crosscut 1 from the surface tunnel is out 259 fect. 10 feet having been made during the past week. The face shows porphyry. The north drift from the west crosscut from the top of the raise, 80 feet above the surface tunnel, is in 42 feet, hav- ing been advanced 12 feet during the week. The face Is in quartz of no value. There Las been no ore taken out of the mine during the week. We have shipped to the Brunswick mill during the week 114 tons and 50 pounds of ore. This ore is now being reduced, and the average battery assay 80 far 510Wws a value of $22 38 per ton. The Overman official ietter states that there were extracted from the south drifi on the 900 level during the past weelk 33 tons and 1000 pounds of ore, the car samples of which averaged $42 87 perton. There have been worked at ihe Bruns- Wwick mill 200 tons and 230 pounds of ore, the bat- tery average of which was 324 06 per ton.
