CHICAGO, Oct. 23.—Incidents of noe or im- portance were lacking in whea: to-day. The amount of business was extremely small, with no evidence of outside interest whatever and little trom local men and scalpers. The crowd espoused the bull side a: the opening, making the dry weather which prevails in the Southwest an issue. 1t was easy to communicate firmness to prices, as very little buying, in the absence of any desire to seli, had the desived effect. The Liverpool cables constituted a further hardening influence, as they were quotably firm. Receipts both at Chicazo and inthe Northiwest were lizht, the former having 826 cars and the latter 983 cars. Local inspec- i tionsirom store amounted to 10,581 bushels, and 421,309 bushels cleared at the seaboard. Closing Coutinental cables were unchanged to higher.
