Sept. 21.—The wheat market CHIC was raiher a tiresome affair to-dey. The only trade of any moment or note was the seiling of one or two hundred thousand bushels by the house rep- resenting the “iron” interest, now so much talked of. The sales may or may not_have been for the syndica'e men, but_the crowd took due notice of the transaction. Weakness was the prevailing tone of prices. start was with a 1oss of 14ct0 Gye from yesterdsy, and prices gradually meited away, meeting with some opposition b thelr course when puts were reached, but eventually overcom- ing the obstruction. The export clearances from both cossis for the week, 2,538,000 bushels, in- ciuding wheat and flour, were some better than for the previous week, but that circumstance proved unavalling us a sustainer. Liverpool cibles were lower. Northwest were large, 1176 cars, and_Chicago bad Wiihdrawals from store at this place were 07 bushels, and seaboard towns shinped 505, 169 bushels. Ciosing Paris cables were higher for spot flour, but other quoiations were unchanged. ‘Beriin und Antwerp unchanged. December wheat opened from 5815c, 5834, declined 10 57%c, closing at 581s@5854c under yesterday. Esu- mated receipts for Monduy 61 cars. Corn was voied a lifeiess deal. The fact that shorts in May were coverad leisurely kept the mar- ket from being entirely lost sight of. This was nothing in the way of information to affect the feeling, and prices naturally drifted in the direc- tion of those of wheat. Liverpool cables were weak and lower. “Leceipts were 547 cars and 18,204 brighels were taken from store. Export clearances Receipts in the , | Texans, COMMERCIAL Worep. amounted to 142,767 bushels. May corn opened at 29¢, sold between 2915 and 2874c, closing at 287ke. 20%4c under yesterday. Estimated receipts for Monday 616 cars. Uats—The oats crowd was resting all day, not becsuse they had performed anytbing fatiguing, but simply becanse they had nothing else to do. The few quotations that were established repre- sented exceedingly small transactions, and were higher or lower as the wheat and- corn marke s vanced or declined. Receipts were 345 ca There was nothing taken from store.
