CHICAGO, ILL, Sept. 11.—The wheat specu- | lator voted it too hot for work to-day and agreeable | to that verdict tet the market. alone during most | of to-day’s session. Of course precautions were | taken to prevent any advance being scored, so | every time that prices displayed the least indica- tion of asserting themselves they were promptly hammered down. The action of the markel at the stert did not show that the Government report constituted much of & factor although it might be that some of the later selling was out of respect (o that document. The Northwestern receipis were again large, 1203 cars arriving against 758 on the corresponding day last year. Liverpool cables were quiet and steady. Chicago receipts were 69 cars, an 17.006 bushels were taken from store, port_clearances amounted to bushels. York reported 30 loads sold for export at that place, and it was said that 200,000 bushels had been worked here. Closing Continental cables were irregular. Corn—The weather was the consideration in this grain, as well as in wheat, not that the conditions particularly affected prices, but it was so extremely hot that traders were adverse to exerting them- selves, and business was therefore very dull. The receipts were 318 cars, and 125,893 bushels were taken from store. Liverpool cables were quiet abd unchanged. Export clearances amounted to 49,- 746 bushels. May corn upened at 2814c¢, declined 10 2874c, closing at 20c—bgc under yesterday. Es- | timated receipts for to-morrow, 455 cars. Oats—But little trading was attempted in oats. Prices held steady because there was no effort, o sell, although the demand_was equally curtailed. Receipts were 150 cars. No oats were inspected bR of siore. May oats closed 15 under yesterday.
