At the start the mar- ket was decidedly strong, the Government crop re- port for July having been favorably interpreted. The result was an advance of 14@114 per Missouri Pacific leading. The Increase oi $97.000 int earnings of the latter for the first week the current month had a good deal to do with this specialty. The market declined at the opening to-day on selling orders the docu- ment brought. It was not a very decided siump, and after a moderate loss had been made the shorts came in as buyers, and the emand from that class of operators turned prices up again. After the first hour or two the trade showed u disposition to quiet down, and scalpers had an opportunity to make a few turns. The Cincinnati Price Current reported 1o essentfal change in crop conditions last week. Liverpool cables were steady at the opening, but & decline of 1d took place in that market later. Corn—Corn was comparatively easy at the open- ing, the Government figures being decidedly bear- ish and the Cincinnati Price Current reassuring on the corn crop conditions.
