Compared with yes- terday’s close, September pork is about 5¢ hizher and July unchanged. Lard is 7%4c higher for both July and September, and Tibs are up 734¢ for July and Sc for September. The following cuficial reports have been placed on file: CHALLENGE.—West crosscut from top of raise from the surface tunnel fsout 15 feet. The face shows quartz having no value. CROWN POINT.—The raise from the east crosscut from the 700 level, south lateral dritt, Is now up 63 feet, having been advanced 14 feet since last re- port. The top is in & formation composed of por- phyry and low-grade quartz. The west crosscut on the 700 level, 37 feet south of east crosscut 2, is out 83 feet, having been driven 27 feet for the week. The face is in a mixture of quartz and por- PhyTy of no value. The stopes present no material change since last report. On the floors from the fifth floor, above the 700 level to the twelith floor, tae quartz is taking a more southerly direction as they advance south, but appears to cut oft in going up under & clay lying flat under the track floor of the 600 level. From the various openings they have extracted during the past week and shipped to the Brunswick mill for reduction 306 tons of ore, the average battery sample of which was$9 83, of which $8 78 was gold. BELCHER.—On _the 300 fool level the joint Belcher and Seg. Belcher drift is in 195 feet from the shait. The face shows porphyry. Have hoisted during the week and stored in the ore- house at the mine 33 tons of ore, the 8verage top car sample 0f which shoyws an assay value of $24 46 per ton. SEG. BELCHER.—On the 200 foot level the south- west crosscut from the south laieral drift is out 10 feet: fuce shows porphyry and quartz of 1o value. There have been hoisted and stored in the ore- house at the mine 18 tons of ore, the average top car lmmme of which shows an assay value of $16 8 per ton. SAVAGE—In the Savage on the 950 foot level the north lateral drift, sterted from the west side of the station. Is advanced 50 feet. The north drift from the east crosscut, fourth floor of north up- raise, is advanced fifty feet. The face is in quartz and porphyry. On the 1000 level the east cross- cut, started from the south drift at & point 40 feet south of the east drift, was advanced 15 feet: total length, 25 feet; face is in quartz, assaying $20 per tou. Continue to extract some ore Of fair grade from the eighth floor of this level. On the 1050 level in the main south drift, at & point 250 feet south of the shaft, an east crosscut has been advenced 28feet: face is in quartz and porphyry. They are extracting some ore of good grade from the fourteenth fioor of this level. During the week they have hoisted 43 cars ot ore, car samples aver- age $81 76 per ton. W. E. Sharon, mining superintendent, is down from the Comstock. In the Bulwer Consolidated mine the Ore seam in the top of upraise I from the 200 level is about 8 inches wide and of good grade. Some g""" ore i3 being taken from the stope above the 150 level. About twenty Lons of ore, estimated to be worth $25 per ton, Were extractéd_ during the week end- ng May 5. The winze below the 350 level of the Occidental Con. mine was down 10 feet at last accounts, and 214 feet of high-grade ore was in the bottom.
