Prices Are Steadier, Although Trade Is Very Quiet. BOSTON, March 20.—The American Wool and Cotton Reporter will say to-morrow of the wool trade: The reported strength of the markets abroad has not yet been reflected in any appreciable way here. Prices, though not quotably higher, certainly are steadier, and although trade has ruled very quiet, manufacturers have found it Impos- sible to obtain concessions in value from those current & week ago. Wool is low in comparison with other staple articles, and it is lower here than anywhere else. Stocks of do- mestic wool here are not large, and yet there ap- pears to be enough to meet the demand, which in itself is not urgent. The business of the past_week hes been of a retail character, very few good lois having been moved. The aggregate of transac- tions in fact is even less than that of last week. Holders of wool are i some quarters quite firm in their views and a case is cited wherea manufacturer came into the market and made some offers, which were not accepted by the dealers and went home without securing his wool. It is be- lieved even by those who had been looking for & further decline in values that wool Las got toa point where the bottom can be felt and that any further changes in values will be upward rather than in a downward direction. e e e LATEST SHIPPING INTELLIGENCE. » Arrived.
