The $5,000 Decided day, After a Hard Fight in Court, After being on trial for several days, the case of Messrs, Geo. Wal- lace and W. E. Cave, executor- of the Wisdom estate, against the First National Bank, was decided, the jury bringing in a verdict just before noon in favor of the plaintiffs for $3,140. The suit was fought by the best le- gal talent in the city, It was brought on a note purporting to have been signed by the late Mr. Wisdom. It was paid by the executors, who af- terwards obtained wiat they believed ) be good evidence that the note was orged. They brought suit to recoy- er the amount, and the whole case hinged on whether or not the signa- sare to the note was that of Mr. Wis- gom. The jury decided that ic was not. Photographs covering several feet were taken of the signatures, for the benefit of the jury, and all the bank- ers in the city were examined as to their opinion regarding the signature.
