Has Doubtless Made Good His F: e@pe— Still Much Excitement Over the Outrage. There have been no new develop: ments in the assault case, Mrs. Stanley is improving, and will re- cover. Her assailant has not been cap- tured por has he even been heard from, ‘There have been numberles: reports about his having been caught but no one bas been arrested, and only one or two suspects have been taken up. These were questioned and forthwith released. here is no theory of the direction-the fiend took, but it is generally believed that he has escaped. The Sun: No news of importance has hap- pened in the past few days worthy of This morning the company g' y mustered into the U, S. service pt. Davis is still con- flned to his bed in the Protestant In- firmary, but was mustered into the service with his company. He is now rapidly recovering from his fall and hopes to be at camp in a few days. It is worthy of note to say a young lady of Paducab, Miss Lena Henneberger, is nurse at the above named infirmary. The boys all feel and act more like soldiers than they did before they were mustered. When we were lined up ready for muster, two men failed to show up, Beverly Reed and James Grogan. One man in line, Henry Gamp, dropped out after we were in line of march to the mustering office. These three men deserve the censure of all good people and are a disgrace to our fair city. The boys are all bitter against +| these mea and it would go hard with them if they should show up at the quarters. It is to the credit of ovr city to say that none of the Paducah boys have been in the guard house and all have conducted themselves ia a gentlemanly and soldier-like way. ‘They have won an enviable repu- tation in the camp and no company is better liked or better known in either the Second or Third regiment than company K of Paducah.
