Kobertson Assumes Personal Coatrol.--Mr. thomp- son Has No Definite Plans. ‘There was a large crowd cut to wituess the excellent races at the fair grounds last night. ‘The track was well and satisfacto- rily lighted, which was very gratify- ing, but there are yet more lights to be put in. The races are becoming very pop- ular, and a great many ladies aud children attend them. Last night's results we ; First race, one-balf mile—Finis, first; Apewan, second ; Imp Quigley, third. Second rage, five-eighths mile— Cosena, first; Too High, second; Cora T, third. Mr, Henry E. Thompson, who had been managing editor of the evening “News” since its first iseue in 1872, last night dissolved his connection with that paper, and today Mr. Jas, E. Robertson, who owns the con- trolling interest, assumed personal, business and editorial management of the paper.
