POREMAD Judge Bishop occasioned no little merriment at the court house yester- day. It was all due to his absent mindedness, of which many amusing stories are told, The recently tried «damage suits consumed so mueb of the court's time that when the last one was concluded, after a week had been wasted on it, the Judge found himself confronted with the discour- aging fact that he was six days be- bind with the docket. He started about to make up for lost time, and fully demonstrated his quickness in case of emergency. Yesterday he took up the docket again and noticed at first that whea the cases were called neither lawyer, plaintiff, defendant nor witness ans- wered. Undaunted, however, he proceeded to desiecate the docket uatil Deputy Clerk Kidd finally walked over in sheer alarm and qui- etly remarked, ‘Judge, did you know you were two days ahead o! the docket ?”’ The judge made an investigation and found that he was. The club rooms are sumptu- ously appointed and hung with comic pictures, of which the confusion and rout of the mother-in-law is the prine!- pal theme. On the wall behind the president's chair, at the head of the table, in the dining-room, fs a full length, life-size picture of a woman muzzled, A neatly framed copy of the principal rules hangs in every room, ese rules are as follows: “1, Only married men are eligible. “2.
