D. JOHNSON, 227 Bdy., Paducah, Ky. —WHEN Y New Canne Home Made Lard a Specialt; A BAD GANG Wanted in Paducah and Caught in Union City. The Jordan Boys, Mary Miller and Demps Hall Caught For House -Breaking. Bob and Steve Jordap, two noto- tious and badly wanted Paducah ne- groes, have run s inuck in Tennessce and are in at Union you a charge of housebreaking, and will thas evade Kentucky justice. Bob Jordan recently forged an or- der for $5 on Mr. John Francis and secured the money from his wife. Steve Jordan, his brother, was ar- rested, but was so convincing in bis ,roiestations of innocence that Judge Sanders gave him the benefit of the doubt when he claimed his brother committed the forgery and released vin. Bob Jordan was for several days aa elusive terror in the First ward und carried four pistols around, de- fying arrest and displaying the weap- ons whenever no officer was near. It is now certain that he committed wost of the recent burglaries here, the last one being the daylight rob- bery at the residence of the late Mr. 8. H. Wisdom on Jefferson sirevt on the afternoon of the funeral. His ivother is implicated in it. Chief Hall and Officer Sotberland went to work on the cuse avd Chief Hall found where some of the pro- perty had been left and Officer Sui‘ erland where a pair of shoes stole1 from the Wisdom residence were ta- ken for repa Jordan meanwhile smelled a mouse and skipped, bot Marshal Collins hot on his trail and finally located both Jordans, Mary Miller, a nan with whom Bob Jordan was living, aod Demp- Mal, alias Stall, who is wanted veresor breaking into Mr. Leona:d and stealing a new outfit of clothing. It appears that this gang bas been e=tensively oper- ating in Uuion City, and are now in jail. The two Jordans, it is un- derstood, were caught, while the Oihers are accomplices. Marshal Collins was notified by telegraph late yesierday afternoon «nd Otlicer Fayette Jones left early this morning for Union City to bring Hall back, who admits the Jones obbery, to answer for housebreaking if he will return without a requisivon, DISORDERLY HOUSES, ‘Iwo Females in the Police Court Today. An Important Question Involved in the Case, Annie Cox snd Beulah Wilson, two soiled *‘pigeons’’ of West Court street, were arraigned in Judge Nao- der’s court this foreacon on a charge of running @ bawdy house. Attorney Jewe Moss defended them and they claimed that they did! not live together, bat occupied a! double tenement house belonging to| the cox woman, After hearing evi- Gence relative to the repntation for chastity and virtue of the defendants the respective attorneys spoke. The defendants’ gttorney tended that one woman or (wo wonien could run # disorderly house, bat no a bawdy house, Prosecuting Attorney Reeves es- serted that while one woman did vol constitute @ bawdy house one womau covld easily ron one, Judge Sanders, in commenting ov the case said that it was this charac- ter of house that ruined the young men of the city and gave it as his} opinion that the defendants were guilty, but reserved yotil Monday ia! crder to look up some court of apy peals authorities, The decsion will be of co wsiderable imporilance In! the circuit court this class of women have been acquitkd.
