HOLIDAY MOOD IN OMAHA 1916, By A. R. GROH Have you observed the new Christmas spirit ir the Omaha stores? You have felt it but perhaps you haven't stopped to analyze it. There is a certain broad kindliness that has nothing to do with dollar- making and that goes farther than Santa Claus. The religious note is in it and the whimsicality of the childlike faith in fairies and the note of helpfulness for the helpless. I went into the Burgess-Nash store yesterday. Where 1 expected to hear the usual rush of cash girls, the ring of cash registers, the hum of business, 1 heard the peal of an organ and a choir singing, “O, Little Town of Bethlehem." ductive Nebraska farms. Down at the Brandeis stores I saw a sign over a booth with letters two feet high: “Hans Anderson Toys.” Little cradles, doll beds, chairs, cup- boards, are displayed, and there is a picture of an old man, half reclining i a chair, working.
