NOTED OMAEANS INVOLVED After several years of delay, the old "wild horse” case will be brought up before Judge Woodrough of the federal court 5cccmbcr 4. The case involves a number of prominent Omahans. It is alleged by govern- ment officials that thousands of dol- lars were obtained from stockmen and farmers of the middle west by a clique of men who represented them- selves as the owners of a large num- ber of wild horses in Arizona. The method was to sell a brand of horses running on the range with the understanding that the purchasers were to gather their own horses. The purchasers, after reaching the rmg discovered that it was impossible fo them to tell whether they actually had any horses and that it would be a physical impossibility to catch them. This practice went on for a number of years and there seemed no legal way of stopping it until the postal authorities got after the con- spirators for using the mails to de- fraud. N The wild horse scheme was incor- porated under the laws of this state for $250,000 and stock sold to many prominent citizens. Forty-two persons were indicted by the federal grand jury April 22, 1914, for having a hand in the afialrs of the company, but because of the death of Judge W. H. Munger and the appointment of new attorneys the case has been allowed to drag along.
