Friday he learned that four of them have been killed, and three of them are prisoners. One of these is in a prison camp in France, and one of them has been sent to the wilds of Siberia, whence few prisoners return. Nothing has been heard of the one who was sent to Siberia and it is feared he, too, is dead by this time. One of the young men was killed in the first onslaught on Liege, and others wounded. ° ) DUN'S REVIEW OF TRADE, Spectacular Demand Outstripping Supply Continues, New York, Nov. 17.—Dun's tomorrow will say: The spectacular demand outstripping sup- ply at the highest prices of modern times, continues apparent, In many lines, Com- potitive bidding and Increasing costs production steadily accentuate the strength of the leading commodities, and still fur- ther advances ure foreshadowed by the erness of buyers. The rush to get for- ard orders on the books of producers 'is practically general and in some instances purchasings exceeded well into 1918, but the works nearly everywhere are so closely sold up and ahead that each week the number of rejected contracts increases, - | Some manufacturers have virtually with- drawn from' the markets, etither through inabllity to engage themselves further, or because of the prospect that quotations will §o still higher and buyers who previously held oft now experience much difficulty in covering their requirements, Weekly bank clearings $6,336, against §4,401 30 last year, London Stocks and Bonds.
