BEE AD STARTS THINGS ' If you are the foster-parent of ‘a boy, you don't have to pay him for cating the food you serve him, wear- ing the clothes you buy for him or sleeping in the bed you provide for him. Nor do you have to endow him with a gun just becagse he went hunt- ing once or twice with it. These principles were established in Wright county court, Jowa, Monday morning when the case of Mrs. Mat- | tie Manka of Omaha was dismissed. | She was suing, Thomas Gallagher of Clarion, Ia., for $550 and a shot gun. She had filed suit in behalf of her minor son, who had lived for the last two years with the Gallagher family. The complainant demanded the $550 as wages for the chores her son did around the Gallagher home. Mother Advertises. Attorney D. H, Sheehan, who rep- resented the defendant, replied in his counter-petition that Mr. Gallagher was induced by an ad in The Bee to accept Mrs. Manka's son into his home. In the newspaper, the lawyer says, the boy's mother wrote an ap- penl for some charitable person to be- come the foster-parent of her son, whom, she represented, she was un- able to support. Mr. Gallagher con- tends that the boy was sickly when brought to his home, but that good care, proper feeding and clothing and a life in: the open has nursed him back to health, It was in the wish to keep the boy in the fresh air that Mr. Gallagher loaned him his shot gun and he argued that said loans do not constitute ownership. Negro Killer Pulls Revolver On Dolan Walter Boyer, colored, arrested and identified as the 1man who kitled Frank Mes hand, in an ument game, was sciten ed to in the county When taken Ho cer drew a revolver on Officer Dolan, but the latter beat him to the dvop and he surrendered, It was maintained by the court that was not sufficient to ubstantiate a murder charge, so he was arraigned for carrying concealed weapons.
