STYLES ON PARADE not | Climax of Merchants’ Market Week Brings Society Out to See Newest Creations. CROWDS FLOCK TO SEE SHOW A positively classic atfair, that is what the Omaha style show was at the Auditorium last night. Upwards of 6,000 men and women, gathered from one-fourth of all the states in the American com- monwealth, crowded the Auditorium uatil standing room was in demand. It was the grand central feature, the climactic function, of merchants’ market week activities, With mer- chants gathered from twelve states for one big active week in Omaha to lay in thelr stocks of fall and hollday goods, the wholesalers are giving a series of entertalnments and recep- tiona for them In the evenings, and the style show is the nne event that stands out, that towers above all the others in grandeur. Gowns Beautitul and Costly. Twenty-five of the fairest women of Omaha, South Omaha and Council Blutfs displayed the richest and costliest garments on the market, wearing them in & grand series of promenades over the handsomely decorated stage and through & long colonnade entwined In flowsers. Brilliant evening gowns costing as high s 3500 aplece were worn in the demon- stration work by the graceful models; as well as cloaks that are priced as high Yot this does not mean that the gar- ments exhibited were all made for the rich alone, for there was a wide range of prices in the things shown. Cloaks ranged in price from #6.7 to §150. At the same time suits and gowns ranged from nfy reasonable prices to as high as $40. Great Variety Showa. Between 40 and 600 garments in all wero shown In the modeling work, which ;| continued until after 10 o'clock in the evening. Besides the gowns, and cloaks, - | 00 hats also were shown to the best pos- to | ¥ible advantage by these trained models. Then there was enough of clever enter- tainment interspersed to make the show &% move smoothly and with attractive sploe. f E : i i g £ 1 FH ; ji ! ! s il i E i ! E ! All the modeling was done to the meliow fluting of skilled orchestra, and classic dancing was featured by experts, Enter the Kuee Wateh Annabelle Sinclair drew applause with her handsome little dance “The Blue Danube.* “Galatea,” featured her Pari- “|slan music ball dance, introducing the knee watch, and encored with a synco- pated walk, all of which held the 600 spelibound until “'she” exhibled shocking frankness by jerking off a wig und re- mu-umdm‘-hudo(md “This is positively great' sald Joseph Kelley, chalrman of the merchants’ mar- ket week committee, when asked how he liked the way the week was golug to- gother with the style show, “This is the greatest crowd we ever bad, and every one in the crowd is ex ceptionally well “The importance of Omaha os & mar- ket city is clearly shown by the fact that many retallers have come -right through Kunsas Oity, Minneapolls, St. Pau! and other large cities to come to Omaha to do thelr buying this week. It must be remembered, (00, that Omaha originated the merchants’ market week idea, and that other cities that put on sueh o event have merely copied It from Omaha. “This style show I the more remark- able when one remembers that these gar- ments are largely made right here. When & fashion lands in New York It Is re- celved by us in Omaha as soon after that as the United States mall can carry it We get to work on It and manufacture the garments right here at home. It would be a revelation to tens of thou- sands of people to see the work along this line that is done in some of the big establishments,_here.'” Recommends Chamberiain’s Cough Remedy. “Last winter 1 used a bottle of Cham- berlain's Cough Remedy for a bad bron- chial cough 1 felt its beneficial effect immediately and before I had finished the bottle I was cured.
