MAKING UP BOOSTERS' TRAIN Bpecial for Trade Excursionists to Be Ready Sunday. “CON” BABCOCK ON THE JOB 014 Paliman Conductor Comes from Seattle to Chaperone Expedition —Rnllroad Men Wil Go Al The trade boosters' rallway caravan is being made up by the Northwestern in the Omaha yards. Sunday the train will be complete in all appointments and in #hape for public inspection The first piecc of equipment for excursionists arrived In Omaha Thursday morning. It is a fourteen section kitchen car for the use of George Green's band. It is & regular club car and its use for taking care of the band wil solve a difficulty for the commissary committee. In addition o this car two other diners will be fur- nished for the accommodation of the party The remainder ot the Pullman equipment will arrive in the city Friday. All the cars are being put through the snops and will be spick and span when they are coupled to the engine for the trip through Nebraska and South Dakota Pullman Conductor Babcock has brought from Seattle to handle the party He I8 & veteran in the business as are the twelve porters who will comprise his erew. Thirty telephones will be installed and anyons In Omaha can communicate with the train by calling Douglas 1083 Ratlroad Mendio Alons. Among the raliroed rapresentatives who party dre F. General Manager Walters of the North- wester has taken a personal Interest in all of the arrangements and seys he is deter- mined to make it the best handled excur- sion that ever pulled out of Omaha. The boosters will mix up with Halley's comet somewhere between Stickney and Chamberlain, 8. D., as they make about elghteen towns on May 18. It is hard to prediet what will happen when the comet's tail and the boosters come together, but after sizing up the bunch, odds favor the boosters. MRS. SARAH GOODMAN WILL BE BURIED IN CONNECTICUT Rody Rests in Temporarily—interesting Story in evoted Life. The funeral of Mrs. Sarah C. Goodman, who died Monday morning, was held Wed- nesday afternoon at the home, street, and the body was placed In a re- velving vault at Forest Lawn. cemetery, where it will rest until summer when the daughters will take it to the old home in Connecticut for Interment beside that of the husband and father, H. A. Goodman, who dled in Omaha twenty-six years ago. The services at the home were conducted by Rev. Frederick T. Rouse, pastor of First Congregational church, of which the Good- mans have been members, the elder couple Joining soon after 1:3 organization. Assist- . ing Mr. Rouse was Rev. G. G. Rlce or Counell Bluffs, a life-long friend of the family, and himself %0 years of a; friends attended and there was & bounty of floral tributes, Mr. and Mrs. Goodman went from their Connecticut home to Galesburg, 1lL, before the civil war. There they became ac- quainted with Rev. Mr. Rice and with him and other loyal unionists, formed a colony which went to Centralia, Kan., with the avowed purpose of alding in making that territory a free state, when admitted to the union. From the eventful days of that stirring perlod until the day of her death, this bond of friendship remained unbroken and at her bler the venerable clergyman came to pay his last tribute to Mrs. Goodman. He related to the daughters und company of friends at the home the lnterésting story of this friendship and #poke with affectionate regard of the de- voted lfves of both Mr. and Mrs, uuudnllll From Kansas the Goodmans came to Omaha, in 1866, and remained here v:unlhm- ously since. Mr, Goodman for many years was foreman at the Union Pucific shops, of what Is known as the Lincoln shed, and the family has hosts of friends in this city, Mr. Rouse, in ms remarks, spoke of the congplcuous part Mrs. Goodman had alwa; s taken in the First Congregational chure where she was beloved as the member, being 80 year of age.
