The annyual house-warming given by the Bellovue collego young, women of Fon- tanglle hall was a big success. With the exception of the commencement events this is always the most important soclal occaglon of the schodl year, Miss Carter and the members of the house board were In the receiving line. The rooms of the hall, all of them tastily decorated, werg thrown open to inspection. The ques- tion under discussion is: ‘‘Resolved; That the Commission Plan of Government Be Adopted by American Citles” ' The Man- derson prize debate brought out the fact that Bellevue had two teams of consider- able merit and hopes are high for the win- ning of both decisions. In addition the freshmen are studying for the preliminaries that are to be held March 7. The winners will make up the freshmen team which wHI'debate the Uni- versity of Omaha later in the season. Another district court jury -has shown cruel disregard for the feelings of the City National bank. Some time ago Mrs. Mary Carlon sued for damages and recelved a verdict of $2000. Mrs. Carlon was living In & house at 2507 South Seventeenth street and stepping on a walk covering an old, partly filled-in oistern, suffered injury.
