BRUNING'S VOTE ELFCTS Hll Swallowed as Bitter Pill by Bodlord and Pickard for Chairman. TRAINOR VOTES FOR J. A. Scott one. Jetf W. Bedford, O. J. Plekard and Drunig voted for Bruning. P. J.| Trainor cast the ballot for Mr. Scott, who was abselt on account of illness. Bruning, elected to the county board as | republica, has again committed the deed | of party treachery which elected him to the chafemanship in January, 1908, and | will pay the same price as before—casting his vote for the men whom Commissioners | Bedford and Pickard select for county | appointments. The result was without surprise. After | County Clerk Haverly had called the | meeting to order, Commissioner Pickard moved that the board proceed to elect | a ‘chalrman by ballot. The votes were cast and Mr. ‘Plckard stepped forward | as one teller. County Clefk Haverly sum- | moned Commissioner Trainor to act as another counter. “it's superfluous, stepped forward and dried.” Nelther Commissioner Plckard nor Bed- | ford lgoked particularly happy over the result of the election. They have admit- | ted that Bruning is a bitter pill to swallow, | Funny, but Don’t Know It. Bruning himself Injected considerable | humor of the unconselous variety into the | meeting by an address. Also he declared, *“The clection Is rather a surprise to me, for there was nothing really fixed up, in a way." This remark was made to reporters. In his more formal address Bruning delivered himselt of several gems of thought “The reason 1 wanted to be re-elected,” sald he, “was that I think every chalrman of every committze has worked falthfully and efficiently, and so I didn't see any reason for any change. I want to thank the superintendents of {institutions who have co-operated with us and T want to ask thelr co-operation to co-operate with one aim this year." The following were annouriced: Bedford—Finance, struction, Pickard—Roads, bridges, committee of the whole. | Trainor—Hospitals, chalrty, claims, Scott—Judiclary, court house and jail.
