IT MUST RAISE $150,000 MORE n Campaign for on Next anda Win B This A nt Mon Hand in hand with the plans and hopes to bulld a great institution in the Gate City comes the offer of $60,000 from George A. Joslyn, president and general manager of the Western Newspaper Union. The donor makes his offer on condition that | the sum of $150,000 is added to the bequest | before June 1, 1910. The entire §200,000 will | be spent for new bulldings. | Two weeks ago Mr. Josiyn signified his intention tentatively to Dr. D. E. Jenkins and Dr. H. H. Maynard to ald the uni- versity financially. At a meeting of the executive committee of the board of di- rectors of the institution he presented his offer in definite form, stipulating the amount of his benefit and the conditions under which it is to be pald. ‘The executive committee assembled at the Commercial club rooms to consider the offer and to make plans for the future. of the trustees of the University of Omaha It was resolved to accept the sum under the conditions named and a meeting has been set for 12: o'clock, November 29, !when plans will be made for a campalgn to raise the remalning $150,000. New Science Hall First. Funds secured from Mr. Joslyn and raisad in any other way are to be applied to the bullding appropristion. 1 perhaps the greatest meed of the insti- tution at present, but Mr. Joslyn's offer specifies only that his money be used for erecting & bullding for educational pur- pomes. The University of Omaha has twenty- two and one half acres of valuable land, located - between Twenty-second and Twenty-fifth streets, and Pinkney and Pratt streets. The present structure used for educational purposes faces on Twenty- fourth street. New Farnam Cars First of Month Long Trolleys Will Be Put On, Though Big Barn is Not Ready. Notice was posted in the Harney street car house Monday morning that after De- cember 1, the men working In that barn would report to the car house at Twenty- fourth and Vinton streets. The order fur- ther says that on that date the new cars will be Installed on the Farnam line. These cars are now ready for use. The company had expected to put them In service as voon as the new car house at Tenth and Plerce streets was comp.eted, but the con- tractors are taking longer than was ex- pected and the officers of the pany have declded not to walt, but to in. | the large new pay-as-you-enter cars at once and to run them out of the Vinton street barn.
