Taylor, of near here, has taken in a little more than a quarter of a century Thirty years ago Taylor was penniless, homeless and friendless; today he is the legal helr to one-third of the estate of Mre. Ida KFlagler, the ex-wife of Henry M. Flagler, former Standard Oll magnate, raflroad owner andsbufider of the Florida East Comst rallway. Mrs. Flagler dled last Baturday in New York City. Thirty vears ago Willlam W. On the farm he was reared, untll he reached manhood, then he learned the harness maker's trade | in Mason City, HI was frugal of his enrnings and by satings he got together enough to enter the business for himself. But all his frugality and carefulness in saving and business might not have avafled Taylor anything insofar as the fortune is concerned, had It not been for the girl he married. She was Nora Shanks, the daughter of a prosperous Portland town- ship farmer, and with a woman's curlostty she became determined to find out the facts regarding her husband's parentage. Relationship is Established, The investigation she instituted resulted after years of search in positively estab- lishing the fact that her husband was a nephew of Mrs. Flagler. This was con- | clustvely proven six years ago, and ever |since then Mr. Taylor has recelved an annuity of $,000. The other two. helrs are | brothers of Mr. Taylor. They were also walfs and were brought with thelr brother to Jowa and given homes. Mrs. Flagler was a young weman of Philadelphla when she married Henry M. Flagler In 188. Several years afterwards she lost her reason. At thdt time the Flaglers were living In Flortda, and in 1901 the Florida legislature passed a bill which made incurable Insanity of four years' duration legal cause for divorce.
