The contract for the fine two-story brick factory of the Brown Truck Co. has been let ‘to W Jacobs, who will begin the erection of the bullding immediately, or as soon as ma- terial can be put on the ground. The Ralston Cement Hlock factory, a building 60x130, was completed and roady for by last week. A contract was made last week with B 3. Heisrodt, proprietor of the Cement Block Tactory, to'lay 9,000 square feet of cement sidewalk in Ralston's business section at once . A petition was circulated Inst week ask- ing that a postoffice be established at Ral- ston and that Wilhelmina Parratt be made postmistress. This will be pushed by peo- ple in Ralston, and it Is expected that u postoffice will be established in the very near future. Seventy men have been on the pay roll of the Howard Stove Co. for the last few weeks, and fifteen to_twenty additional men will be put on the pay roll in a new de- partment of the factory to be opened this week. 1t wiil only be a short time until ‘l<ll the stove works chased last week and will be moved to Ralston_and opened up for business this ! week. The proprietor of this store made a lease of one_of the buildings at the corner of Tith and Burlington streets for one year and expects to do a thriving business in the new town. The postoffice will be conducted In_this same store building. Two restaurants _and one hotel are now doing business in Ralston, but still the fa- cilitics are short and a lease was, made last week for the store bulldng at the head of Burlington street, close to the Howard Stove Works, by a restaurant man who will open up for business the coming week The Raiston Townsite company's two- story office bullding is well under way and the buflding will be inclosed and ready for fronts inside of the next week or ten days. Few towns start off with as many public tmprovements in and ready for operation before the_real village s organized as did Ralston, Ralston has been supplied with electric power, electric light and te'ephone service for some time, and its transporta- tion has been all that could be asked for. The town was connected with Omaha by a macadamized road before the first bulld- | ngs were erected and by the main line of the Burlington, the Missourl Pacific and Belt Line roads before Ralston was laid out Into lots.
